Professional Profile

Audrey Meador joined the Department of Mathematics in the fall of 2012. She received both a B.S.(2005) and, a M.S. (2010) in mathematics from West Texas A&M University and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics Education from Texas Tech University.  Her research interests include recruitment and retention of students to the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, diverse populations in STEM education, instructional theories in mathematics, and pre-service teacher knowledge in mathematics education.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Meador teaches the mathematics content courses to pre-service teachers in the undergraduate curriculum.  In addition, Dr. Meador also teaches professional development courses for in-service teachers as part of the instructional tract for the graduate program in mathematics.   She previously taught secondary mathematics in area Panhandle school districts for seven years and currently holds a Texas Teaching Certificate for mathematics grades 8-12.  

Dr. Meador is a member of various WTAMU University committees and holds memberships and responsibilities in several national and international organizations such as the American Educational Research Association, Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, School Science and Mathematics Association, and the Southwest Educational Research Association. She also is an alumna of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and former McNair Scholar.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Meador’s research interests include recruitment and retention of students to the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, diverse populations in STEM education, instructional theories in mathematics, assistive technology in mathematics education, and pre-service teacher knowledge in mathematics.
