Professional Profile
Dr. Kelly Jones joined the Department of Agricultural Sciences as a part-time instructor in the fall of 2022 and became a full-time faculty member in the fall of 2023. He received a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Education from New Mexico State University in 2002 where he was selected as outstanding student in agriculture, a master's degree in Agriculture Education from Texas Tech in 2004, and a Ph.D. in Agriculture Systems from West Texas A&M. Dr. Jones taught high school agriculture for seven years and worked in the feed yard and ranching industry as well.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Jones teaches several sections of Ag Leadership 2300 as well as several courses in Agriculture Education including Introduction to Agriculture Education, Teaching Leadership in Youth Organizations, Agriculture Mechanical Systems, and Welding. Dr. Jones also teaches some animal science courses and assists with several animal science labs.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Jones is the Herdsmen advisor and oversees our university mascot Thunder XIV.
