Professional Profile
Dr. Christy Petry-Adams is originally from Weatherford, Texas, where she acquired a diverse background in showing livestock and developed a passion for horse judging. She graduated from North Central Texas College with an Associate of Applied Science and a Sustainable Agriculture Certificate in 2015. She went on to Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics. She completed her college career in 2021, earning a Doctor of Education in Agricultural Education. Currently, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Agricultural Business & Economics at West Texas A&M University.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Christy Petry-Adams has been coaching, judging, and involved in the equine industry for over fifteen years. She has made significant contributions as a coach, notably playing a pivotal role in coaching the 2021 AQHA World Show Champion College Horse Judging Team for Texas Tech University. Additionally, she coaches one of the most decorated youth horse judging programs, Texas Elite. She took over the legendary Horse Judging program in December 2023 at West Texas A&M University and has already secured two champion team wins and one reserve team title in her first semester as head coach. She loves spending time in the classroom teaching a diverse set of classes from Agricultural Sales to Spreadsheet Analysis.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Petry-Adams' research and creative activity are deeply rooted in her extensive background in the equine industry. Her contributions to the field extend beyond coaching to include roles in arena management, office administration, secretarial work, scribing, sales, and judging in partnership with organizations such as Kimes Ranch, SHTX, AQHA, SRCHA, 4-H, and Open Shows. She is the Secretary for the National Horse Judging Team Coaches' Association, a 2023 AQHA Lead participant, and a member of the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo Horse Committee.
