Professional Profile

Dr. Andrade joined the Department of Agricultural Science in 2024. He was born and raised on a family-owned dairy/beef farm in southeast Brazil (Minas Gerais state), which inspired him to pursue formal education in livestock. He received a D.V.M. (2015) and M.Sc. (2019) from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Animal and Dairy Sciences from the University of Wisconsin (2024).  Dr. Andrade spent three years consulting dairy and beef cattle operations, focusing on improving bovine reproductive performance.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Andrade teaches undergraduate Reproductive Techniques and Endocrinology at the graduate level. He is a member of the International Embryo Technology Society (IETS), the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA), and the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS).

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Andrade's research is focused on optimizing bovine performance through an integrated approach to bovine physiology and management strategies. His current interests include developing timed rebreeding programs, methods for early pregnancy diagnosis, strategies for pregnancy loss mitigation in cattle, and modeling the optimal day-to-pregnancy in dairy and beef cows.
