Professional Profile

Gretchen Henley is a Senior Academic Adviser and the Assistant Director to Advising Services. She also serves as the Academic Advising Liaison for the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, which has garnered her a spot on the Dean’s Team. Gretchen began her WTAMU career in Advising Services in 2018 as a Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives, then to Senior Adviser in 2021, and finally Assistant Director in the spring of 2024.
Originally from Tahoka, Texas, Gretchen started her college journey at WTAMU in the fall of 2012. She graduated with a B.S. in Agricultural Media and Communications in 2016, followed by a M.S. in Agricultural Sciences with an Emphasis in Education in the fall of 2018. She has been teaching for the Department of Agricultural Sciences as a part time instructor since 2019 and advising all Agriculture and Natural Science new freshman and transfer students since 2021.
She has a daughter named Parker who shares her love of agriculture and animals alike. In her spare time, you can find her travelling, hanging with family or friends, in a show barn, or maybe working on her many artistic passions. She also enjoys spending time outside, with her many animals, or participating in shooting sports competitions like sporting clays or trap and skeet. She and her daughter attend Living Water Christian Fellowship, here in Canyon.
