Professional Profile
Dr. Lust joined the Department of Agricultural Sciences in 1992 as an instructor and coach of the livestock judging team. He completed an agricultural education degree at Texas Tech University (B.S. '85). He studied animal science at Michigan State University (M.S. '89). He completed the program in systems agriculture at WTAMU in 2008 (Ph.D.). Dr. Lust taught animal science and coached the livestock judging team at the University of Georgia prior to joining the faculty at WTAMU. He completed the program in systems agriculture at WTAMU in 2008.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Lust teaches a variety of undergraduate animal science courses with emphasis on breeding and livestock management. He is heavily involved in teaching and advising freshmen. Through the years, he also has taught courses on live animal and carcass evaluation, livestock judging and more. He is the faculty coordinator for the WTAMU's 2,300-acre Nance Ranch, where activities include teaching and research projects related to the cow-herd and crops, along with community functions such as youth judging contests.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Lust collaborates with other animal science and plant science faculty on research projects at the WTAMU Nance Ranch. His research interests focus on development of efficient and alternative livestock and forage production systems. He also has interest in teaching and student development.
