Professional Profile
Doctor Romero has a PhD in Hispanic Cultural Studies from Michigan State University and a master's degree in Latin American Cultural Studies from Universidad de Chile.
Their book project focuses on how Latin American intellectual women from the XX century created, sustained, and grew their social and cultural network to become renowned figures in the (patriarchal) canon.
Their interests also include linguistic justice, disability studies, and work on memory and literature.
Teaching and Related Service
I have taught different Spanish courses (all levels) and literature, film, and culture classes for eight years. I've also been an advisor for student organizations (such as the Spanish club, and Q&A) and participated in the Graduate Student Association as chair during my time in the PhD program.
Research and Creative Activity
After starting my career as an Assistant Professor, I am currently undertaking a certificate in Women and Sexuality Studies from Universidad de Chile. My research involves archival work and the sociological/cultural undertaking of network tracing through letters, magazines, newspapers, and other archival materials.
I particularly enjoy learning from an intersectional point of view; always guided by the question "Who is missing from this picture?"
