Professional Organization of English Majors and Spanish
and anyone else who wants to come . . .
We are a student organization dedicated to any and all English, Philosophy, and Modern Language students, whether an English or Spanish major/minor, graduate student, friend, alumni, or anyone who loves reading and writing. We embrace the importance of literature, theatre, and academics, as well as other forms of pop-culture that inspire our lives.
We offer opportunities for professional development, intellectual fellowship, solidarity, and fun. We promote an out-of-class network among students through social, educational, and professional programs.
Throughout each year, P.O.E.M.A.S. hosts a number of activities from film screenings and theatre productions with post-presentation discussions to resume workshops and round-table discussions for students considering graduate school, student-faculty softball games to end-of-semester dinners and movie nights. We also participate in campus-wide community service projects and events and often work closely alongside WT’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.
Participating in P.O.E.M.A.S. is a great way to enrich your sense of community, and a great way to enhance your resume. There is no minimum GPA requirement or student dues to participate in our group.
Follow us on social media for updates, upcoming meeting and event announcements, encouragement, and camaraderie.
