Professional Profile

Dr. Price joined the Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences in 2013. He received a B.S. in Sports and Exercise Sciences from West Texas A&M University in 2008, a M.S. in Sports and Exercise Sciences with an emphasis in Sport Management from West Texas A&M University in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Sport Management from Troy University in 2020.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Price teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate SES courses, including Foundations of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Sport Officiating, Administrative Concepts in Sport and Exercise Sciences, Legal Aspects of Sport, and Facility Operations & Event Management. He serves on the university’s Intercollegiate Athletic Council, Athletics Hall of Champions Committee, and is currently representing the SES department as a faculty senator.

Dr. Price is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the North American Society for Sport Management, Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Sports Events and Tourism Association.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Price’s research interests include athletic policy, athletic facility construction and management, legal issues in sport, the role of sport tourism entities in community and economic development, and state-level sport tourism cooperatives. In addition to academic publications, he has also co-authored several industry whitepapers and research reports that focus on state sports tourism associations, salary and compensation analyses, and current industry trends. Recently, he partnered with Dr. Michelle Bartlett to conduct a comprehensive analysis of a local school district’s athletic department.
