Master of Science in Sports & Exercise Science

About the MS SES Degree

The Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences graduate program offers a Master of Science degree with specific tracks in Sport Management, Exercise Science, and Sport and Exercise Psychology. The thesis and non-thesis option is available in each track. These programs provide students academic preparation for goals ranging from career employment to doctoral studies. Areas of focus available include sport administration, sport management, sport performance analysis, corporate fitness and wellness, physiological testing and prescription, and psycosocial aspects of sport and exercise. Each track includes a required departmental three-course core, and track specific required coursework.

Graduate Program Admission

  • WTAMU Graduate School application
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • Overall undergraduate GPA ≥ 3.0
    • 2.5 GPA and Sports and Exercise Science Graduate committee approval for conditional admission
  • Current Resume/CV
  • Letter of intent addressing your interest in the program, your academic and professional goals, and giving identity to the program focus of your choice. One page minimum required.
  • Upload all documents to the applicant portal

 Preferred Deadlines:

  • August 1 for fall admission
  • December 1 for spring admission
  • May 1 for summer admission

Post Admission Requirements:

Once admitted to the program, students must maintain a grade of at least a B in all degree required courses and maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA or better. A grade of C or below in any degree required course necessitates retaking of the course.

Career & Research Opportunities

The potential careers with a masters in Sports and Exercise Science are many. See the lists below for examples of some of the many career possibilities.

Masters students have the opportunity to conduct a research project. Some of our students have published their studies in peer-reviewed journals and have had opportunities to present their research at national conference. In addition, the program will prepare students to pursue a doctoral degree, which would increase the breadth of career opportunities.
