Professional Profile
Ruth DeAnda joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from West Texas A&M University in 2005 and her Master of Science in Social Work from the same institution in 2011. Currently, Ruth is a doctoral student at West Texas A&M University, pursuing a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) with a focus on Educational Leadership.
Teaching and Related Service
Ruth is an experienced educator who teaches undergraduate courses in social work. For two years, she has served as the Field Director for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program and currently holds the position of Program Director. With nearly two decades of professional experience as a licensed social worker, Ruth has cultivated a diverse background in the field.
Her career includes serving as an adoption and foster care case manager for a licensed non-profit child-placing agency, working as a medical social worker at Northwest Texas Hospital, and as a social worker with Amarillo Independent School District. Prior to her full-time faculty role at West Texas A&M University, she served as an academic advisor at Amarillo College, contributing to the academic success and support of students.
