Professional Profile
Dr. Welch joined the WTAMU faculty in 2000. He received a B.A. in political science from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in political science from Texas A&M University. He is currently the Teel Bivins Professor of American Politics.
Teaching and Related Service
He teaches classes in American government, including the American presidency, campaigns and elections, public opinion, parties and interest groups, American national government and American state and local government.
He is the author of numerous articles in journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, Harvard International Journal of Press/Politics, Congress and the Presidency and Presidential Studies Quarterly, among many other articles, columns and reviews.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Welch's research interests include presidential leadership and public opinion, political communications, and campaigns and elections.
