What is Collegiate Recovery?

For individuals in recovery, the collegiate experience can be a stressful and precarious situation. Collegiate recovery programs offer an environment of campus community, education, and support so that individuals can continue their recovery journey while pursuing higher education. West Texas A&M University’s Buff CARES Program will focus on abstinence-based practices while it offers on campus support to students in recovery from alcohol, substance use, and other behavioral addictions. Buff CARES Program is accepting applications now.

Buff CARES Program Requirements

Prospective students applying for the Buff CARES Program MUST have at least one year of sustained recovery completed during the semester they are applying to be considered for admission.


Undergraduate (1st Bachelor):

Enroll and complete 9+ credit hours per semester (fall & spring)
Maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester
Enroll in recovery seminar class each semester
Engage in Buff CARES service
Meet all requirements of Buff CARES contract

Graduate:

Enroll and complete 6+ credit hours per semester (fall & spring)
Maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester
Enroll in recovery seminar class each semester
Engage in Buff CARES service
Meet all requirements of Buff CARES contract
