Professional Profile
Dr. Correa joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2012. Dr. Correa received her Ph.D. from The University of New Mexico in 2020, her B.S. and M.S. degree in Nursing from West Texas A&M University in 2012, and an A.D. in Nursing from Garden City Community College in 1999.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Correa is a member of Sigma Theta Tau; Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education; National Association of Hispanic Nurses Association; America Public Health Association; the Latino Caucus for Public Health; the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators, Los Barrios de Amarillo, and Project Safe Neighborhood.
Classes taught include, Nursing Concepts, Pharmacology, and Population Health. She works with students to plan the Inner-City Health Fair in Amarillo. She also helps with advising for new student orientation.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Correa’s research interests are in health promotion and the effect of chronic illness on the family structure, health disparities, and community and population health.
