Professional Profile
Storey graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in music education. He went on to earn a master's degree in woodwind performance at the University of Michigan. He also has earned advanced hours from the University of Oklahoma.
Teaching and Related Service
He frequently presents masterclasses, workshops and clinics on the clarinet and teaching the clarinet. Storey has been a panel member or chair for Texas Music Educators Association all-state seating auditions for more than 20 years. Storey also attends Clarfest annually to learn new literature and teaching techniques. He is a frequently invited adjudicator and performer throughout the Southwest.
Research and Creative Activity
Storey has held the principal clarinet chair of the Amarillo Symphony since 1988. He has presented countless recitals, chamber music presentations, and been featured as a solo performer around the world. Additionally, he is a member of the Texas Clarinet Consort and Polk Street Jazz (playing tenor sax and clarinet). He was a 2005 recipient of a $10,000 grant to commission a new sonata for clarinet and piano. Storey chose Mike Garson, an internationally prominent musician/composer, to premiere the commissioned work in April 2007.
