Professional Profile
Austin Brazille joined the West Texas A&M University School of Music as an Adjunct Instructor of Guitar in 2020. He holds a Master’s in Jazz Performance from New York University, a Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas, and an Associate in Music from Amarillo College. At NYU, Mr. Brazille studied under esteemed artists such as John Scofield, Chris Potter, Lenny White, Wayne Krantz, Stefon Harris, and Adam Rogers. His primary instructors at UNT were Fred Hamilton and Noel Johnston.
Teaching and Related Service
At WTAMU, Mr. Brazille teaches applied guitar lessons and guitar classes, leads the guitar ensemble, and oversees the guitar studio. He also instructs at Amarillo College, where he directs the jazz ensemble. Previously, he served as an Adjunct Instructor at New York University, providing private guitar lessons.
Research and Creative Activity
In addition to teaching, Mr. Brazille is an active freelance performing and recording artist. He has performed with the Amarillo Opera and worked with touring acts like the Marlin McKay Quintet and the Boilermaker Jazz Band. He also leads his own ensembles, which have been showcased around the Texas Panhandle, including performances at the local June Jazz Festival.
Personal Sketch
Mr. Brazille hosts a monthly jazz jam session for emerging performers and serves on the board of the Amarillo Jazz Society Non-Profit Organization, where he also fulfills the role of treasurer.
