Professional Profile
Mr. Cervantes is a local educator from the North Heights area in Amarillo. Mr. Cervantes taught public education at Tascosa High School for four years before joining the Department of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences full-time in 2024. Mr. Cervantes received both his master’s degree (thesis option) and his bachelor’s degree in biology from West Texas A&M University. Mr. Cervantes wrote his thesis on the antimicrobial effectiveness of a copper surface patch and has worked on multiple projects with Buffalo Technology Group to test the efficacy of antimicrobial coatings against selected microorganisms.
Teaching and Related Service
Mr. Cervantes teaches microbiology and human anatomy & physiology courses at WTAMU. Additionally, He was also the lab coordinator for the human anatomy & physiology courses over the last year. Mr. Cervantes is currently a member of the Recruiting and Retention Committee for the Natural Sciences.
