Dr. Paola Albarran: Ph.D., Regent University & M.A., West Texas A&M University

"There is nothing better than waking up early in the morning and driving to Canyon, knowing that I can be part of a student's life and make a difference in their journey. I have always enjoyed learning and I strive to give my students that same enjoyment from learning. Passion is a key ingredient to life... Let's be proud to be Buffs!!"

Pam Bohannan: M.A., West Texas A&M University

"Three decades in countless classrooms teaching a multitude of diverse subjects to students ranging in age from 2 to 62 has blessed me with the education of a lifetime. Always learning more from my students than the lessons being taught from the textbooks, I am passionate about making classroom learning a positive and enjoyable experience. My parents instilled in me the importance of getting a college education from a very young age and have continuously supported me throughout my lengthy educational career. Now in their late eighties, they are very proud and thrilled that I have the opportunity to teach at my alma mater where I earned my Education and Masters in Communication degrees, as am I.

I agree with Paul J. Meyer who once said, 'Communication - the human connection - is the key to personal and career success.' Let our success begin now!!!"

Laura Dangerfield: M.A., West Texas A&M University

"I'm a fellow communicator, an avid storyteller, and a passionate educator. I enjoy communication because I believe that it is fundamental to the human experience. i graduated from the communication master's program at WTAMU where I enjoyed researching new media, public relations, and storytelling. I want the lessons that I teach to reach further than edeucational goals. I want students to feel that they can control the course of their lives, that how they treat people matters, and that they have the power to make a positive impact in our world."

Jamie Kosk Fischer: M.A., West Texas A&M University

"Communication has taught me the art of storytelling and connecting with others on a deeper level. I enjoy helping students and encouraging them in their endeavors. I graduated with my B.A. in Communication Studies in 2014 and knew I wanted to expand my knowledge. Receiving a M.A. in Communication has allowed me to truly step into my power and passion of letting others know they are heard and seen. I hope to help students with their public speaking skills and use the power of storytelling to enhance those skills! I am excited to begin teaching this fall!

A quote that inspires me, especially in times of navigating any uncertainties is a quote by Marcus Aurelius: "The impediment to action advances action, what stands in the way becomes the way."

I often find that obstacles become the way to build strength, endurance and resilience and hope to provide an encouraging path forward for students!"

Cassie Montgomery: Ph.D., University of the Cumberlands, M.A., West Texas A&M University

"As the most sophisticated species on the planet, we have a responsibility to communicate effectively and to evolve our communication skills throughout our lifetimes. I am excited to lead students through that process and to teach them that communication is essential to our existence and to embrace its power. I aim to help students overcome their anxiety and apprehension in the classroom so that they may be successful beyond the university in relationships, workplaces, and everywhere in between."

Victoria Salas: M.A., West Texas A&M University

"I have come full circle! I am a WTAMU alumni and being able to teach students here is an amazing experience. I love seeing their excitement and enjoy their sense of adventure as they experience college life for the first time. What a gift to be part of their journey as a college student."

Stephanie Williams - Turkowski: Ph.D., Texas Tech University, M.A., West Texas A&M University

"As a fellow Buff, I am thrilled to be back where I started my academic career and embarked on the adventure of teaching! As a multimedia specialist in photography, videography, graphic design, and journalism, I love training the next generation of media professionals. In addition to teaching, I research how fan communities influence media companies and critique popular media. My research focuses on the aesthetics of TV and films, their impact on audience perceptions, and the role of theme parks and media tourism in fan-media relationships."
