Professional Profile
Anne Medlock-Ely is Professor of Costume Design at West Texas A&M University, where she has designed and taught since earning her MFA from Kent State University in 2006. She has designed a diverse multitude of plays and musicals including Cabaret, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Madness of George III, By the Bog of Cats, and Urinetown : The Musical.
Teaching and Related Service
Medlock-Ely created WT’s costume curriculum and enjoys teaching Costume Design, Costume Technology, Stage Makeup and Introduction to Theatre courses. She designs the costumes for several WT productions each year and advises students in costume design, wig and make-up design and wardrobe.
Medlock-Ely is a member of United States Institute of Theatre Technology and Texas Educational Theatre Association. She advises technical theatre majors, especially those with an emphasis in costume design.
Research and Creative Activity
Medlock-Ely has designed costumes in professional and educational theatres in Illinois, Colorado, Ohio, New York and Texas. Her interests include costume history, social history, gender studies in relation to dress and fabric modification and construction.
