4.44 | Unauthorized Areas
4.44.A | Students paying the double room rate have access to one set of furniture (bed, desk, dresser, chair). Any student paying the double room rate who utilizes both sets of furniture or monopolizes the majority of the room's space may be found in violation of this rule and charged the private room rate by Residential Living.
4.44.B | Unauthorized areas include, but are not limited to, mechanical rooms, rooftops, opposite sex community restrooms, another student's room without permission or remaining after permission is withdrawn, tunnels or crawl spaces, etc. Students found in, or having been in, unauthorized areas are subject to disciplinary action.
4.44.C | Multiple-occupancy private spaces, such as locker rooms, changing rooms, shower rooms, and bathrooms that accommodate multiple occupancy use must be designated by a single sex and will be equipped with appropriate signage. The use of a multiple occupancy private space by an individual whose sex is opposite to the sex-designation of the private space is prohibited, unless the use meets an exception or an accommodation outlined in this Handbook.
- Exceptions: Certain individuals may enter private spaces designated for the opposite sex for the purpose of:
- Providing custodial services;
- Performing maintenance;
- Inspecting facilities;
- Providing medical or other emergency assistance, which includes medical assistance provided by athletic trainers, team physicians, or other medical personnel designated by the institution to provide such services;
- Assisting an individual who needs assistance using the facilities;
- Performing law enforcement duties;
- Rendering assistance to prevent a serious threat to order or safety.
- A child nine years of age or younger when accompanied by an individual caring for the child.
