Unexpected costs and needs can cause significant stress and impact on your academic success and personal well-being. West Texas A&M University has a variety of programs and services available to support currently enrolled students.

Emergency Funding

WT assists students who are experiencing unexpected financial hardships that may disrupt their education or prevent them from earning their degree in a variety of ways, including:

  • Emergency medical/dental costs
  • Housing and living expenses
  • Family emergencies
  • Food Insecurity
  • Loss of income
  • And more…

Support may come in a variety of forms, including grants, loans and/or campus and community resources.

Opportunity Grant Program for WT Students

The Opportunity Grant Program is a financial assistance program available to students who meet the following criteria, as long as funds are available. 
 
Criteria:

  • Must be a Texas resident and an undergraduate student
  • Must have a FAFSA on file with an income between $40,000 and $100,000. This grant is designed to aid students who are not Pell eligible, hence the income threshold.
  • Must be a first-time degree seeker in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or better
  • Must have an unforeseen financial hardship. 

 
Grants can be given for up to the full cost of attendance for a semester. Grants can also be awarded for summer terms.
