Listen up Alumni, this tip is for you! Our office can help you take on the professional world of work in many ways. Let’s explore what options we offer and how we can assist you.
Headshot Appointments – Bring your phone and dress to impress, and we will snap your photo in front of our backdrop or even outside if you’re looking for a more casual headshot look. This can be a great way to update your LinkedIn profile.
LinkedIn Appointment – Speaking of LinkedIn, did you know one of our qualified staff can help you improve your current LinkedIn profile? We will go through your profile with you one-on-one to see what can really help you stand out and look attractive to potential employers. Remember, LinkedIn is the number one search result if your name is searched, so be sure it’s in tip top shape if you have one!
Job Search Appointments – These appointments can be great when you’re starting the job search process and aren’t sure what to search for or if you’ve been searching for a while. We try to help you pinpoint possible weak spots in your job search process and how to improve. Additionally, we can connect you to tons of helpful resources.
Resume/Cover Letter Review Appointments – This appointment type is great if you are wanting a second opinion on your current resume. We can go through and check for errors, common mistakes, and even help you update the formatting. Bring a job posting that you’re interested in so we can give you an idea of how to better pick apart a job posting to tailor your resume.
Professional Clothing Closet Appointments – This appointment type is available if you need professional clothing, especially for an interview or professional networking event. The clothing is gently used and is there so that you can put your best foot forward in those professional settings. Although there is no guarantee there will be a garment that suits you, there are lots of options to choose from.
Interview Preparation Appointment – During these appointments we can go over whatever you are nervous or anxious about an interview. This is not a Mock Interview where we ask you practice questions, however, we are happy to go over some if that’s what you feel you need help with.
CliftonStrengths Exploration Appointment – Once you have taken the CliftonStrengths appointment it is recommended that you visit with a coach to better understand your results. It is especially helpful to know yourself, and how your brain works and naturally excels when entering the workforce. If you understand yourself you can better market yourself on your resume and in an interview. These appointments can focus on your general strengths or can go into what you specifically want to gain-like help marketing yourself to employers or how to network utilizing your strengths.
YouScience Exploration & Follow Up Appointment – YouScience is another assessment tool that you can use to learn more about how you work best, and it also has a great Career Match section that can give suggestions of career paths that fit you. If you are not sure what to search for, this can be a good starting point. After you have taken the assessment you can meet with our staff to go over your results more in depth and really learn how to use this tool.
Believe it or not this list of things we can help with is not exhaustive. The Office of Career and Professional Development staff is here to support your professional success, so take advantage of the resources offered and make an appointment or stop by! (Yes, we are open all summer long!)
