“Patterns of Surgical Care and Additional Treatments for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): Post COVID-19”

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Carolyn Baum

Lung cancer has the highest mortality rates of all cancers. In this study, I reviewed published lung cancer articles from well-known organizations and institutions, providing a comprehensive review of the literature and including reported outcomes before and after COVID-19. Before COVID-19, stages 1 and 4 of NSCLC resulted in dominance in time-to-treatment in each stage, treatment, and overall. Post-COVID-19, advanced stages were under the first line of care. Cancer research takes years to intake proper data and must invest time to discover how COVID-19 continues to affect lung cancer patients.
