“Examination of GLP-1 Administration for Weight Loss”

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Lee Doernte

This study evaluates changes in body composition in patients prescribed GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight management. Paired samples statistics were used to analyze fat mass (FM) and fat-free mass (FFM) before and after treatment.

Fat mass decreased from 79.360 lbs. to 75.546 lbs., with a significant mean difference of 3.814 lbs. (SD = 2.267). The 95% confidence interval ranged from 0.208 to 7.421, yielding a significance level of p = 0.044, indicating a significant reduction in FM.

Fat-free mass showed minimal change, with a mean difference of 0.777 lbs. (SD = 1.743) and p = 0.438, suggesting no significant change in FFM.

These findings indicate that GLP-1 receptor agonists effectively reduce fat mass while preserving fat-free mass, highlighting their potential in weight management strategies. Further research is needed to explore the long-term implications of these changes.
