“Can Eye-Tracking Glasses Be Used To Measure Consumers’ Buying Habits In A Grocery Store Setting?”

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Tanner Robertson

In the developing world of agricultural communications, researchers constantly see a growing change within the marketing system of food across the country. This challenge brings up new solutions to find attractions and distractions within the grocery stores. This problem must be solved with a solution to the store's marketing, layout, and consumer behaviors. Eye-tracking glasses have become a useful tool within the consumer behavior culture. Tobii Pro Glass has been one way the industry can measure some of the attractions, distractions, gaze movements, fixations, and many more different calculations of consumer behavior. Even though technology is being developed, researchers nationwide must better understand each of these products. From the utilization of the product, this process is complicated even for many everyday researchers. With the new technology, is this a reliable way to use the products to test attractions or distractions? Through this proof-of-concept study, the researchers dove into the actual methodology and technology with Tobii Pro Glasses. This technology has become a flashy product, but has it been able to be used by the everyday person or company?
