Professional Profile
Dr. Spencer joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2015. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Communication Disorders from West Texas A&M University in 2000 and 2003 respectively. He completed his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science with an emphasis in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2021.
Dr. Spencer remains a member of ASHA and the Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders Special Interest Group. He holds licensure to practice in the state of Texas and maintains certifications as a certified dementia practitioner and montessori dementia care professional.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Spencer teaches graduate content related to aphasia, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and right hemisphere disorders. For undergraduates, he teaches anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanisms. He also provides clinical instruction for students in the WT Speech and Hearing Clinic.
