Professional Profile
Dr. Khan joined the faculty in the College of Agriculture, Science and Engineering in 2009. He received a B.A. in Chemistry from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2007. He then joined Dr. Edna Cukierman’s laboratory at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA where he worked on breast cancer cell invasion using tumor-associated fibroblast-derived three-dimensional matrices ( http://www.biomedcentral.com/content/pdf/1471-2407-9-94.pdf).
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Khan teaches Biochemistry, General Chemistry, as well as General Chemistry for the Allied Health Sciences.
Dr. Khan has publications in several prestigious journals to include Journal of the American Chemical Society, Chemical Biology and Drug Design, as well as BMC Cancer. He has also published in the Methods of Molecular Biology textbook series. In addition, Dr. Khan has presented his scientific findings at several national and international research conferences.
Dr. Khan is a member of the American Chemical Society, Controlled Release Society, as well as the National Scholars Honor Society.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Khan’s research interests involve the development of effective liposomal-based drugs to treat various types of cancer. He uses a unique in vitro assay that effectively mimics the tumor microenvironment in order to screen for overall drug efficacy.
