International Student Portal for New Students

The Applicant Portal is where you apply for admission into the university.

Once (and if) admitted into the university, and if you will be on an F1 or non-F1 visa, you will get access to your International Student Portal. This is where you will request your I-20 by uploading your I-20 documents. If you are a non-F1 visa, this is where you will upload your current immigration documents.

You will use your International Student Portal for all things immigration once admitted and as a current student.

Once admitted to the university, and if you are or will be on an F1 student visa or non-F1 visa, you will receive an email indicating that you now have access to your International Student Portal. Please note that it may take several days after you are admitted to receive this email.

Please also note that in order to have access, you will need to activate your student account. Instructions on how to do this are in your admission letter to the university. You will need to wait 48 hours after admission to activate your student account to allow our systems time to sync.

Note: If you haven't already, you will need to activate your student account. Please see your admission letter for instructions for this. You will need to wait 48 hours after admission to activate your student account.

At the top of your portal, you will see a snapshot of information about yourself, including:

• Your name
• Visa Type
• Student (BUFF) ID
• SEVIS ID Number, once your I-20 has been issued
• Education Level - as it appears in SEVIS, once your I-20 has been issued
• Campus Site
• Program Dates - as it appears in SEVIS and on your I-20, once issued
  • Remember: your I-20 can never expire
• SEVIS Status
• You can also add a profile picture if you wish

Depending on what stage you are in, there will be 4-5 tabs under your student profile overview. To navigate the tabs, simply click on each tab.

On this tab, you can find information on the following. Please read through the information on this page along with any links that are included.

• Basic information about the F1 student visa and I-20

The first part of this tab reviews information about where WT is located and includes information for on and off-campus housing. Please be sure to carefully read through all of this information.

On the second part of this tab, you will need to answer whether or not you have an active SEVIS record at another US institution.

The first part of this tab has an overview of the I-20 document and process to obtain an I-20. Please carefully read through this information.

On the second part of this tab, you will need to fill in all required fields and upload your I-20 documents. If you see any incorrect information on fields that you are not allowed to change, please notify our office of the error so that we can correct the information.

This tab indicates the amount of finances that you will need to show for your I-20. It also includes a breakdown of the I-20 costs.

This tab includes final instructions and reminders before submitting your request to receive your I-20. This is where you will submit your request for an I-20. Please be sure to submit your request, as we are not able to process incomplete requests.

Tab #4 is where you can view and take the following actions:

• View Submitted Requests
• View Completed Requests
• View and Download documents, such as I-20s, insurance information (if requested), etc.
• View Practical Training (CPT & OPT) Authorizations
• Make Requests

In this section, you can see the status of any requests that you have submitted that have not yet been approved.

Here are what the statuses mean:

• Draft: you have started a request but not submitted it. You need to go back into the request and submit it before we can process it
• Submitted: you have submitted your request. A DSO has not yet reviewed or processed it.
• Clarification Requested: we have reviewed your request but need additional information before we can move forward. You will receive an email update from us if we need clarification on your request
  • You can also go into the request and view our comments or notes at the top of the request on what we need from you to complete the request
• In Review: we have reviewed your request and are working on processing it. In this status, we may need additional information from other parties (not from you) and may be waiting to hear back from them. Or, we have seen the request and are working on processing it for you.

This next tab will have a history of all completed requests. These are requests that have been processed and approved.

If you see a status of Dismissed, we will always have a reason noted in that request. We will also notify you by email of the dismissal update and reason.

This is where you can download and print your documents. This includes:

• I-20s
• Other documents

Once you become a current student and have been enrolled for at least 2 long semesters in valid F1 visa status, you are eligible to apply for practical training.

WT does not offer first-semester CPT for any student, including US transfer students.

On this section, you will see any authorized practical trainings for CPT (internships) and/or OPT (post-completion work authorization), once eligible and once authorized.

Some reminders and why this part can be helpful:

• You cannot work before or after the dates listed for each CPT or OPT authorization
• If you work off-campus and the employer is not listed here, that is a violation of your visa status

The requests section is where you can make requests and update your information. You can always click on the request for more information about it. The top part will always include information on what it is, and the first part of the request will always either have additional information and/or the steps for multi-step processes.

Go through the form, clicking "Next" to move to the next section. The software does not allow you to click around to the different sections of the request- you must use the Next and Previous buttons.

Be sure to click Submit to submit your request for processing. If you need to leave and come back, you can always Save as Draft and come back later to submit the form.

Please note: we will not process requests that are in draft status. Requests must be in submitted status for us to process them.

Check the Ongoing Requests section to ensure that the request is in Submitted status.

It will take the Office of Admissions - International approximately 5-8 business days to process your request or update. You will receive an email notification once the request has been processed.
