Culminating Activities

As you approach the end of your graduate program, the time will come for your culminating activities. Depending on your program, your culminating activities may include written and/or oral comprehensive exams, thesis defense, recital, or exhibition.

Your program advisor will help you prepare by:

  • Providing you a study guide for comprehensive exams.
  • Reading and reviewing chapters of your thesis or dissertation as you complete them.
  • Helping you plan and schedule a thesis or dissertation defense, recital, or exhibition.

The Graduate School offers assistance by:

  • Maintaining the Thesis Guide and reviewing drafts of theses, to ensure that the formatting is correct.
  • Attending thesis and dissertation defenses to provide moral support.
  • Publicizing all thesis defenses, recitals, and exhibitions.
