ASEE Gulf Southwest Conference 2024

West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) will host the 2024 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Gulf-Southwest (GSW) Section conference. The conference will be held March 10-12, 2024, on the campus of WTAMU.

This year, the conference theme centers on "Celebrating How Engineers and Computer Scientists Make a Difference in Our World." Join us in celebrating the remarkable contributions of engineers and computer scientists who are making a profound difference in our world!

Professor and Dean Dr. Emily Hunt, from the College of Engineering is the chair of the conference. For questions about the conference, contact Dr. Emily Hunt at ehunt@wtamu.edu.

The following topics will be explored at the conference under three tracks:

    • Grant Writing for Impactful Projects
    • Using AI and Machine Learning for Social Good
    • Fusion of Research and Education
  • Engineering and Computing Education
    • Innovative Approaches to Engineering Education
    • Using AI and Machine Learning for Social Good
    • Expanding Pathways exploring opportunities in undergraduate and graduate studies and emerging technologies, celebrating the journey of future tech leaders
  • Global/Industry/Community Collaboration
    • Empowering Engineering and Computer Science Education and Research
    • Global Collaboration
    • Community and Industry Engagement

The deadline for abstract submission for a conference presentation is December 22, 2023 (extended deadline).

The Gulf-Southwest Section of ASEE represents ASEE members in New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana. Through the Gulf-Southwest Section, members participate in professional activities at the local level, and form regional networks of educators with common interests and goals. Section activities include conducting an annual section conference; conducting workshops and professional development activities for faculty members and administrators; sponsoring awards for professional excellence; and issuing newsletters.
