About Us

In the fall of 2010, a parent of a child with learning disabilities met with the Dean of the College of Education and Social Sciences at WTAMU to discuss the needs of families who have been affected by learning disabilities. After discussing the possibilities, the Special Education faculty at WTAMU decided that teachers also need support in the classroom. From these early discussions, the WTAMU Community Partnership for Learning disABILITIES was born to respond to the needs of parents, students and teachers.  In August of 2013, the Texas A&M University Board of Regents designated the Community  Partnership, as a Center of Excellence.

The WTAMU Center for Learning disABILITIES seeks to make a difference for:

  • Parents - through education, parent groups, resources
  • Students - through workshops designed to support and promote success across all aspects of life
  • Teachers - assisting teachers in understanding the disabilities and possible strategies to help students cope and learn in the classroom
