Professional Profile

Dr. Hughes served as a faculty member at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she taught in the Elementary Education Department. She has also worked for Paris Junior College, where she taught education courses as well as developmental education courses. She joined the WTAMU College of Education as a part-time instructor in 2013.

Dr. Hughes received her BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as her M. Ed. from Sul Ross State University. She earned her doctorate in Supervision, Curriculum, and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2006.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Hughes teaches undergraduate and graduate-level Integrated Language Arts/Social Studies and Educational Psychology.

Research and Creative Activity 

Dr. Hughes has a background in early childhood and second language research, and has published and co-authored many articles and has presented at state and national levels.
Her research interests include low socio-economic students, multicultural and minority students, and college preparedness
