Application Process for UB Math-Science
The Upward Bound Math-Science grant project at WT processes applications annually during the Fall semester. First-generation, low-income students who attend Hereford and Palo Duro High Schools are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Upward Bound Math-Science, you must meet the following requirements:
- First-Generation – Your parents either didn’t attend college, attended some college but didn’t finish, or completed a college program that required less hours than a Bachelors Degree (i.e. trade school, vocational license, Associates degree).
- Low Income – Family income will be measured according to the latest TRIO Federal Income Tax Levels. If you are unsure whether you qualify as a low-income participant, apply anyway! (See income levels here)
- 9th or 10th-grade student at Hereford High School or Palo Duro High school
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident
The Type of Student We’re Looking For
Prospective applicants need to demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Need for rigorous academic development
- Desire and commitment to improve academic skills and performance
- Strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math (STEM)
- Strong desire and commitment to enrolling in post-secondary education in the Fall semester immediately after high school graduation
- Strong commitment to completing a program of post-secondary education within a STEM area, and the drive to complete at least an Associates degree within six years after high school graduation.
