When writing your title, make sure it can stand alone and people will get an understanding of what the event is, if only the title is displayed. 

Good Example

Career Services Resume Development Workshop

• Rationale: By labeling it Career Services, it is more clear that the Resume Development Workshop is a specific item for Career Services. Saying it's a resume development workshop shows it's about learning how to develop and write a resume. 

Poor Examples

Development Workshop

• Rationale: No context about what Development Workshop is or what specifically the workshop is about.

Learn How to Write a Resume

• Rationale: This is rather informal and would work better used as the description.

We recommend putting the most important information near the top, and concentrate on why people will want to come to your event. Most readers skim the first few sentences.

Don’t use special formatting other than bolds and italics. Only bold words that are very important for people to see if they are skimming. Avoid using underlines, as site visitors will mistake underlined text for links. Do not use all caps since this is not accessible. 

Do:

• Keep sentences and paragraphs short and easy to scan.
• Double check your spelling.
• Provide links to relevant content, linking words that accurately describe the linked page instead of pasting a raw URL.
• Spell out acronyms that may be unfamiliar to most audiences.
• Indicate if RSVP is required. Add a registration link on the Tickets & Registration tab to trigger an RSVP button on your event page.
• List the exact location of your event in the description. Be specific with room # information or if the event will be virtual (Zoom, etc.). 

Don’t:

• Underline important words, instead use bold.
• Say “Click here.” Instead, link descriptive words.
  • Example: “Click here to learn more about Kids Kollege” rewrite to say “Learn more about Kids Kollege.”
• Paste raw URLs, instead link descriptive words
  • Example: Instead of “Visit https://www.wtamu.edu/webres/File/Student%20Life/Code-of-Student-Life.pdf”, rewrite to say "Visit the Code of Student Life."
