Please accept your award within two weeks of the date of your award to ensure that you are still eligible. Scholarships do not count towards your payment until it is in the “disbursed” column on your statement. Please review your account once payment is due to ensure everything is reflected correctly. Be sure to also submit your thank you letter when you accept your scholarship award. Scholarships may affect your financial aid package and either one may be reduced.

Once you have been awarded, you will receive an email notification. You will need to take action by going to your Buff Portal and selecting the "Scholarship" icon on the top right corner. This will redirect you to the Scholarship Portal. From here, you can accept or reject your awards and submit your thank you letter.

Freshman Merit Award Levels

These are not the actual names of the scholarships that you will receive from our office. We use all of our available scholarship funds to fulfill these Award Levels. The names of your scholarships may also change from year to year.

Your scholarship may be renewable up to three additional years, but you must complete the following:

Submit the scholarship application by February 1st. We encourage students to apply for scholarships each year by the priority date, which is currently February 1st, to be considered for any donor or department awards;
Submit the scholarship Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative WT GPA, unless stipulated otherwise;
Enroll in and complete no less than 30 semester hours per academic year. These hours must be completed at WTAMU.

Automatic Transfer Award Levels

If you meet the criteria for these awards, you will officially be awarded which you will need to accept via our Scholarship portal. The award levels are not the actual names of the scholarships that you will receive from our office. We use all of our available scholarship funds to fulfill these Award Levels.

Your scholarship is renewable for one year, but you must complete the following:

Submit the scholarship application by February 1st. We encourage students to apply for scholarships each year by the priority date, which is currently February 1st, to be considered for any donor or department awards;
Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative WT GPA, unless stipulated otherwise;
Enroll in and complete no less than 30 semester hours per academic year. These hours must be completed at WTAMU.
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and required financial aid documentation by July 31st each year. International students are exempt from completing the FAFSA. Need eligibility according to the FAFSA may also be a requirement of your Transfer Award Level/scholarship.

General Criteria for Awards

Generally, you are not eligible for awards from Scholarship Services as a graduate student. Our awards are only designated for undergraduate students. Please let us know if you will be a graduate student in the fall.

Unless your scholarship is one of our renewable merit award levels for new students, it is likely a one-time award. Our scholarships are competitive and depend on available funds. In order to be considered for scholarship funds from Scholarship Services, you must:

Apply for scholarships each year by the priority date which is currently Feb. 1^st.
Maintain a minimum 3.3 cumulative WT GPA unless stipulated otherwise.

Enroll and complete not less than 30 semester hours per academic year. These hours must be completed at WTAMU.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) scholarship is a one-time award for first time enrolled transfer students. Please submit your verification of membership (certificate, membership card, or transcript with PTK on it) to the scholarship office at scholarships@wtamu.edu by July 31^st before your first semester attending WT to be considered for this award.

Named President’s Honor Scholarship Renewal Criteria

If you maintain a cumulative WT GPA of 3.4 and take 30 hours per academic year, the scholarship is renewable for the first 8 long semesters of your college career as an undergraduate student. Please notify our office immediately if you have a change in your official major. This President's Honor scholarship may be part of your Merit Award Level but it does have a higher GPA requirement as it is one of our more prestigious awards.

Named Presidential Scholarship Renewal Criteria

If you maintain a cumulative WT GPA of 3.5 and take 30 hours per academic year, the scholarship is renewable for the first 8 long semesters of your college career as an undergraduate student. Please notify our office immediately if you have a change in your official major. This Presidential scholarship may be part of your Merit Award Level but it does have a higher GPA requirement as it is one of our more prestigious awards.

Hope (Regents’) Scholarship

This scholarship requires that you be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 hours per long semester). The amount of this award may be decreased according to your scholarships and/or financial aid package.

This award may be renewable for up to three additional years (two, if you are a transfer) or until you obtain a degree, whichever comes first, if you meet the following criteria:

Submit the scholarship application by February 1st. We encourage students to apply for scholarships each year by February 1st, to be considered for any donor or department awards.
Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative WT GPA, and good standing with satisfactory progress towards a degree.

Enroll and complete 12 hours each long semester.

Dewey Jackson and Gladys Parkey Scholarship for Entering Freshmen

Each recipient must meet each of the following requirements in order to qualify:

Must reside in the Panhandle Region
Must be in the top 25% of their high school class, academically
Must be a first-generation student (neither parent received a college degree)
Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
Must complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester
Must take and pass the Student Success Course the first semester of their freshman year.
From their sophomore year forward, must be involved in extra-curricular activities on campus such as community service, leadership in campus organization, fraternities or sororities, etc.

This scholarship awards $2000 the freshman year, $1000 for the sophomore year, $1000 for the Junior year, and $1000 for the senior year.

Paul and Amy Romine Scholarship for Entering Freshmen

Each recipient must meet each of the following requirements in order to qualify:

Must reside in the Panhandle Region
Must be in the top 25% of their high school class, academically
Must be a first-generation student (neither parent received a college degree)
Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
Must complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester
Must take and pass the Student Success Course the first semester of their freshman year.
From their sophomore year forward, must be involved in extra-curricular activities on campus such as community service, leadership in campus organization, fraternities or sororities, etc.

Greater Texas Foundation Scholarship Awards

By accepting this scholarship, you are agreeing that your information may be shared with the Greater Texas Foundation Board.

By accepting this award, you understand that the donor may receive your contact information in order to interview you.

Single Parent and President’s Community Service Scholarships

You will be required to attend the Honors Award Banquet that honors these (and others) scholarship recipients.

Departmental (Academic Departments and others Non-Scholarship Services) Scholarship Awards

Please check with the department who awarded the scholarship to you to see what the requirements may be. Scholarships may affect your financial aid package and either one may be reduced.
