Parking Services

The Parking Services Division of the University Police Department issues parking permits, parking citations, coordinates booting/towing of vehicles in violation, and assists with other WTAMU parking matters. All persons operating a vehicle on University property are subject to State and Federal laws as well as University traffic rules and regulations.

About Parking Permits

A valid parking permit is required for ALL vehicles parked on the WTAMU campus (the only exceptions are University-owned vehicles, visitors parked in visitor spaces, and vehicles parked at the First United Bank Center).

The first permit ordered for the academic year should be ordered online. All permits are valid for the academic year of purchase, expiring per the date on the permit. Parking decals may be ordered with a temporary license plate number. Please update Parking Services when the license plate number changes.

Parking decals must be permanently affixed on the FRONT windshield's INSIDE lower right (passenger) corner. Alternate permit display locations must be approved by Parking Services.

When changing vehicles or replacing a damaged or lost permit, bring the used permit (or pieces of the permit) back to Parking Services to obtain a new permit for $10.00. Paperwork documenting the sale, trade, totaling, or repossession of a vehicle may be accepted in the absence of the used permit.

Student Permits: Cost of a student’s first permit for the academic year is paid with their university fees.

Faculty/Staff Permits: Cost is derived from a salary-based tier system and payment for the first permit for the academic year may be paid in full at the time of purchase or through payroll deduction.

Visitor Permits: Visitor permits are issued at no cost and may only be obtained in-person from the JBK Information Desk (with more restrictions on both the duration and number of permits that may be obtained), Parking Services, or the University Police Department’s Dispatch office (temporary and visitor permits are only available here outside of Parking Services’ normal business hours).

Temporary Permits: These permits are only obtainable in-person from the JBK Information Desk (with more restrictions on both the duration and number of permits that may be obtained), Parking Services, or the University Police Department’s Dispatch office (temporary and visitor permits are only available here outside of Parking Services’ normal business hours). Students - are allotted 21 days of free temporary permits each semester. These may be issued up to 7 days at a time. Staff and Faculty - with the purchase of a parking decal, are also allotted 21 days of free temporary permits each semester which may be issued up to 7 days at a time.

Note: Parking permits (temporary, visitor, or decals) may only be issued to persons without outstanding citations.

Parking Citations and Appeals

Parking citations may be issued to persons who violate WTAMU parking rules and regulations and are enforced 24/7, year-round (including holidays). Should you receive a parking citation, please act promptly.

Manage Citations

Parking citations are considered late 30 days after the issue date and time. A one-time $15.00 late fee and a Parking Restriction (for students, staff, and faculty) will be assessed on delinquent citations. Note: Vehicles are subject to impoundment when an individual has three or more outstanding and delinquent citations.

Citations may be paid online with a card or in-person with a card, check, or money order. Checks or money orders for payment may also be mailed. Note: Cash payments are not accepted at this time.

Appeals: Citations may be appealed online only within 20 days of the issue date and time. The appeal process will be “locked” after 20 days. The appellant will be notified from the Appeals Committee Chairperson via email that the appeal was either accepted (citation will be waived) or rejected. Please be sure to read all options and follow all instructions when appealing a citation as well as reading all options and following all instructions received from the Appeals Committee or Parking Services.

Note: A “visitor” is defined as any individual other than: a) a student; b) an employee/staff member; c) any person engaged in the performance of a service for the University; d) any person operating a vehicle bearing a valid University parking permit or vehicle registered to a student.
