Applying Talents in Career Discovery
The Chinese philosopher Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life". You will work approximately 90,000 hours from the time you graduate college to retirement at age 65. That is a lot of time to spend doing something if you dread getting up every morning. Choosing a career is about finding the right fit. Think about the following questions:
What would I love to do, if I didn't have to worry about making money and if I knew I could not fail?
What energizes you and gets you out of bed in the morning?
Where do you find deep gladness in your life? Are there things you like to do? Things that come fairly easy to you, and when finished, you have more energy than when you started?
Is there a need that catches your attention? What part of the world's deep hunger moves your heart?
What brings you great gladness? What things bring energy to your life?
