University Clothing Drive Helps Students Dress for Success
CANYON, Texas—More than 150 students at West Texas A&M University got the chance to select a professional outfit of their choice, free of charge, thanks to the annual Professional Clothing Drive, hosted recently by the WTAMU student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
The mission of the Professional Clothing Drive is to provide career-ready clothing for students who may not be able to afford them. The provided clothing will allow students to attend interviews and begin working in their field with the appropriate attire. It is the hope of the WTAMU’s SHRM to continue the clothing drive each year to ensure career readiness for all students.
WTAMU’s SHRM would like to thank all community members who contributed to this initiative. Without the professional clothing donations, the initiative would not have been possible. A special thanks to Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp and the Chancellor’s Century Council for their generous donation and for the creation of a permanent clothing closet on campus.
Those interested in donating professional clothing or would like more information, contact Dr. Alison Berry, aberry@wtamu.edu, or Dr. Rahul Chauhan, rchauhan@mail.wtamu.edu.
