COB Student Receives Wall Street Journal Achievement Award

CANYON, Texas—Monte Price, a graduate student in finance and economics at West Texas A&M University, is the recipient of a 2010 Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award.

The prestigious awards are presented annually to recognize students and their academic achievements in the area of finance, economics and business administration. The recipients are nominated by faculty members at their respective universities.

"The award is given to the WTAMU student who performs the best in the investments/portfolio theory/security analysis classes," Dr. Anne Macy, Gene Edwards Professor of Finance, said. "It’s not necessarily about who has the highest score. It is more about who does the best work in terms of critical thinking and analysis of stocks. This is a great honor for Monte, the College of Business and West Texas A&M University."

In recognition of the honor, Price received a commemorative paperweight featuring the Student Achievement Medallion and a one year subscription to the Wall Street Journal.
