CANYON, Texas — The West Texas A&M University Alumni Association’s annual Golden and Diamond Buff Reunion will kick off a weekend of commencement ceremonies.

The reunion, which celebrates Buffs who graduated 50 or more years ago, is set for May 15. Two days of spring commencement ceremonies for the class of 2025 will be held May 16 and 17.

The reunion will celebrate all alumni classes from 1975 and earlier, with special recognition for the class of 1975’s 50th anniversary and the class of 1965’s 60th anniversary.

“We are so excited to welcome back our Buffs from the classes that graduated 1975 and before”, said Ronnie Hall, executive director of the WT Alumni Association. “Our hope is that they will return to campus to reconnect with lifelong friends, reminisce about their days at WT, and re-engage with the people that make this university so special.”

Deadline to register is May 12. Registration is $25 at wtamu.edu/about/events/golden-diamond-buff-reunion.html.

The day’s events also will include a reception at 10 a.m.; welcome remarks by Amber Black, assistant vice president for student success and well-being and a WT alumna; a presentation by Student Body President Kyal Browne, a senior agribusiness major from Waxahachie; and lunch with President Walter V. Wendler. All activities will be held in the Legends Club in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center.

Bus tours of the campus will be offered beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Maintaining strong community and alumni ties is a component of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.

That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign’s new goal is to reach $175 million by 2025; currently, it has raised more than $160 million.
