CANYON, Texas — The West Texas A&M University Alumni Association’s annual FORE County Golf Scramble is set for May 1 in Hereford.
Deadline is April 24 to register here: app.eventcaddy.com/events/2025-fore-county-golf-scramble-and-fundraiser.
Cost is $600 per four-person team. Various sponsorship levels also are available.
The tournament raises funds for scholarships to support WT students from Castro, Deaf Smith, Oldham and Parmer counties.
“For 21 years, the generous supporters of WT in the western Texas Panhandle have been dedicated to raising scholarship funds for students," said Ronnie Hall, executive director of the WT Alumni Association. "The Fore County Golf Scramble is a key part to this effort, and we welcome all forms of support, including direct donations to the scholarship fund as well as items for our door prize drawing.”
Hall said the alumni association hopes to raise $6,000 at the tournament.
Check-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the John Pitman Municipal Golf Course, 400 S. Main St. in Hereford. Lunch will be provided by Cargill.
Shotgun start is 1 p.m. Scorecards must be turned in at 5 p.m., followed by dinner provided by Whiteface Ford.
Recruiting, retaining and rewarding the best students is a key mission of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign’s new goal is to reach $175 million by 2025; currently, it has raised more than $160 million.
