CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M University’s student-run podcast kicks off its third season Sept. 19 with an episode highlighting another student-run project—the Department of Agricultural Sciences’ Fall Gather.
New “I Am WT” hosts Brooke Nemeth, a senior digital media and communication major from Levelland, and Hunter Sparling, a sophomore digital media and communication major from McLean, speak with McKenna Murphy, a junior agricultural media and communication major from Calhan, Colorado, and Kyli Kraft, a senior agribusiness major from Fort Collins, Colorado. The duo are among the organizers of the community celebration and fundraising event, set for Sept. 21.
The episode is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and SoundCloud, as well as at wtamu.edu/IAmWTPodcast.
New episodes for the first half of the season will drop weekly through Nov. 7. Future episodes in the first half of the season will feature Dr. BJ Brooks, director of the WT School of Music; Doug Lipinski, WT’s new vice president for athletics; and Dr. Jim Cornette, Brenda Schroer and Clay Stribling, this year’s Distinguished Alumni.
Nemeth said she is excited to amplify campus voices.
“I’m excited to connect with listeners, share real stories, and dive into meaningful conversations this semester,” Nemeth said.
Sparling is excited to learn more about the WT community.
“I hope I can help people get their voices out in the world whether it be about an event, organization, or other opportunities offered here,” Sparling said.
The “I Am WT” podcast embodies WT’s commitment to people first, one of the key principles of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign’s new goal is to reach $175 million by 2025; currently, it has raised nearly $160 million.
