CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M University’s online MBA program is one of the most outstanding in the nation, according to The Princeton Review.

The prestigious education services company released its ranking of Best Business Schools for 2022 on Dec. 14, with WT rising to No. 19 on the Top 50 list.

“A steady increase in ranking from a premier agency like the Princeton Review reassures me that a focus on fundamentals — quality, service and sincerity — has been noted by our peers,” said Dr. Amjad Abdullat, dean of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. “Our success in this area can be attributed to a variety of factors, and most of these have to do with people. This accomplishment is a testament to the faculty and staff in the graduate business programs office in the College, as well as the enduring support and advocacy the College enjoys from the Graduate School.”

In 2020, WT was ranked No. 22. This is the fourth consecutive year the University’s MBA program has earned a Top 25 ranking.

The list is The Princeton Review’s seventh-annual ranking of online MBA programs. WT joins the likes of Indiana University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Southern California and Rice University on the list.

“We strongly recommend WT as an outstanding choice for anyone aspiring to earn an MBA online,” said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. “WT’s program is exceptionally strong academically, and it maximizes technology that enables students to interact with and learn from faculty and students all over the world.”

The Princeton Review chose the 50 online MBA programs and tallied its ranking list based on data from the company’s 2020-21 surveys of administrators at more than 130 business schools offering online MBAs.

The company also factored in data from its 2020-21 surveys of more than 7,000 students enrolled in online MBA programs. More than 60 data points were weighted to determine the list and rankings. The criteria focused on five core areas: academics, selectivity, faculty, technical platforms and career outcomes.

The Princeton Review’s website features in-depth profiles of the 50 online MBA programs. In the profile of WT, The Princeton Review editors say that WT has “‘the best value’ for a highly regarded academic program.”

“An important factor in this specific ranking is the feedback of recent graduates,” said Dr. Neil Terry, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. “It is gratifying to know there is positive and distinctive acknowledgment about the program from our most recent graduates.”

Surveyed students enrolled in the program said professors and administrators are “knowledgeable and accessible.”

“After getting a BS and MS at a large University, I was always amazed at how responsive a small university like WT was. The chair of a department will return an email in a day,” one student said.

The Princeton Review Best Business Schools for 2022 project also features a list of the best on-campus MBA programs. That list, which names 241 business schools and includes 18 categories of ranking lists (each list naming the top 10 schools), also posted on Dec. 14 at princetonreview.com/best-business-schools.

The Princeton Review released its lists of the Top Undergraduate and Graduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2022 on Nov. 16 at princetonreview.com/entrepreneur.

Only schools that participated in The Princeton Review Best Business Schools for 2022 survey project were considered for the lists.

More than 1,000 students were enrolled for Fall 2021 in the University’s MBA program, hailing from 45 states and 17 countries.

WT’s commitment to being a learner-centered university for on- and off-campus students alike is a key component of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World. That plan is fueled by the historic, $125 million One West comprehensive fundraising campaign. To date, the campaign has raised more than $85 million to fund priorities across campus.
