CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M University’s online MBA program is ranked among the world’s best, according to recently released rankings from a global business education analyst.

London-based QS Quacquarelli Symonds released its largest-ever list of the world’s best online MBA programs April 21, with WT’s program making the cut for the first time.

“One of the unique things about the QS rating is that it shows that we are gaining attention and prominence in the international space,” said Dr. Robert Allen King, director of graduate business programs for the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. “Our diligent, hardworking faculty are understanding of the needs of our students who are located all across the world. This includes being cognizant of the different time zones and work-life situations of our diverse population of students.”

QS uses four groups of metrics to evaluate the quality of an online MBA offering: Employability, Class Profile, Faculty & Teaching, and Class Experience. More methodological information is available at TopMBA.com/mba-rankings/online-mba-rankings/methodology.

According to the list, the United States remains the dominant provider of high-quality MBA programs, accounting for 30 of the 57 entrants, and for three of the Top 10. The list grew by 10 over 2020, with the majority of the newly featured programs hailing from America.

“In featuring in this year’s QS Online MBA Rankings, West Texas A&M University has reiterated its status as one of the world’s top providers of virtual business education,” QS spokesman Jack Moran said. “With only the top third of programs worldwide included in the final table, all participants must demonstrate strong employability outcomes, innovative virtual pedagogy, a highly qualified, diverse class cohort, and high-quality faculty interaction. In particular, WT’s online MBA performs particularly strongly in our Class Profile indicator, highlighting that students participating in its program will benefit from engaging with talented, diverse, experienced peers.”

WT’s online MBA program ranked No. 5 in Texas and No. 67 in America in U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 rankings, and its online MBA program for veterans ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 49 in the country.

For Spring 2021, WT’s Graduate School enrollment rose nearly 5 percent from the previous year, with 6 percent more students pursing their first master’s degree and 32 percent pursuing their first doctoral degree. Overall, enrollment grew 14 percent among full-time graduate students.

A focus on graduate academics is a key maxim of the University’s long-term plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
