CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University’s Department of Communication student-run public relations firm, 1910 PR, has promoted senior Mason Curry to the position of executive director for the fall semester of 2020, with senior Stevi Breshears serving as assistant director.

Curry, a Canyon native, is a public relations/advertising/applied communication major and has been with 1910 PR since the 2019 fall semester. He served as assistant director this spring semester.

Breshears, who joined 1910 PR this spring, will retain her position on the 1910 PR executive board as assistant director. Breshears, an Amarillo native, is a digital communication and media major.

Along with graduating senior and outgoing Executive Director Kelsey Kilburn, Curry and Breshears were instrumental in helping 1910 PR continue its work this spring after classes shifted online due to COVID-19.

1910 PR was founded in spring 2017 and is nationally recognized by the Public Relations Student Society of America. This student-run PR firm provides opportunities for hands-on training in the field of public relations with real work for clients, including the WT Distinguished Lecture Series, Cornette Library, and the Department of Communication.

Each semester, student staff members create content, manage social media, and plan events, among other strategies and tactics needed by their clients.
