CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University has once again earned multiple recognitions from U.S. News & World Report in its coveted rankings for the Best Online Programs. The 2018 rankings were announced today (Jan. 9) as a resource for students seeking information about online programs for degree completion and career advancement.
Only degree-granting, online programs at regionally accredited institutions were considered for the 2018 list and includes bachelor’s and graduate degrees in fields such as business, engineering, education and nursing.
"These rankings show that WTAMU is meeting student aspirations by providing quality programming with greater flexibility for those taking classes from a distance," Dr. Walter Wendler, University president, said. "It’s always an honor to be listed in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, and it reflects well the commitment of our faculty and their dedication to providing the best in educational opportunities for students near and far."
U.S. News & World Report ranks undergraduate and graduate programs on a variety of factors, including student engagement, faculty credentials, student services, technology, admissions selectivity, graduation rates, job placement, career advancement and peer reputation. The University earned its 2018 rankings in the following areas.
Online Bachelor’s Program: WTAMU’s online undergraduate programs are ranked ninth overall in U.S. News & World Report for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, tying with Colorado State University and the University of Oklahoma. A total of 357 institutions with online bachelor’s programs were considered for the 2018 rankings. The eight West Texas A&M University programs highlighted for the undergraduate degree rankings are: B.B.A. Management; B.B.A. Marketing; B.B.A. Law and Economics; B.B.A. General Business; B.B.A. Finance; B.A./B.S. Criminal Justice; B.A./B.S. Health Science; and B.S. Nursing. WTAMU once again earned the highest ranking in the state of Texas. Seven Texas institutions placed in the top 100 for 2018, but WTAMU is the only Texas institution to earn a spot in the top 40. The online undergraduate programs at West Texas A&M University are also recognized for distinguished service to military and veterans, earning a No. 8 ranking in the nation and the highest ranked institution in Texas.
Online Graduate M.B.A. Program: The University’s online Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program is listed at No. 36 overall in the 2018 rankings. A total of 282 M.B.A. programs were considered for this year’s rankings. Six Texas universities placed in the top 100 for 2018, and WTAMU is one of only three from Texas listed in the top 40. Current enrollment in the West Texas A&M University M.B.A. program is over 1,000 students from 46 different states. The online M.B.A. program at WTAMU also is recognized for distinguished service to military and veterans, earning a ranking of No. 19 in the nation and the only program in the state of Texas earning a position within the top 40.
Online Graduate Business Program (Specialized non-M.B.A.): WTAMU’s online graduate business program ranks 18th overall by U.S. News and World Report. A total of 165 specialized online graduate business programs were considered for the 2018 rankings. The Master of Science in Finance and Economics (MSFE) is the specialized graduate business degree at West Texas A&M University highlighted in the review. WTAMU is one of only two Texas universities listed in the top 40. The online specialized graduate business program at West Texas A&M University is also recognized for distinguished service to military and veterans, earning a ranking of No. 8 in the nation and the only program in the state of Texas earning a position within the top 40.
Online Graduate Information Technology Program: WTAMU’s online Master of Science in Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics (M.S. CISBA) earned a ranking of 12th in the nation for 2018. The M.S. CISBA at West Texas A&M University is the only graduate technology program in Texas recognized in the 2018 rankings.
