WTAMU Students Earn Awards at Pathways Research Symposium

CANYON, Texas—Four West Texas A&M University students won awards for poster and oral presentations at the 12th Annual Pathways Student Research Symposium Oct. 22-23 at Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi.
Undergraduate and graduate students from universities throughout The Texas A&M University System shared their research results at the annual event. Entries were judged by representatives from each participating university on accuracy, presentation and knowledge of topic, explanation of research results and goals and overall work.
The four WTAMU award winners are listed by discipline, classification, title and adviser.
Computer Science
First, distinguished poster presentation, undergraduate—Cory Johnson, "Mobile Application Development for Voice Production for Aphonic and Dysphonic Individuals." Faculty adviser is Dr. Sean Humpherys.
Social Sciences
Second place, overall winner for oral presentation, undergraduate—Alex Martinez, "Shakespeare, Politics and the Feeling Audience." Faculty adviser is Dr. Jeff Doty.
Life Sciences
Third, distinguished poster presentation, undergraduate—Jose Robledo, "Investigation of Language Communication Barriers Physical Therapist Encounter with the Emerging Hispanic Population." Faculty adviser is Dr. Vanessa Fiaud.
Agriculture Science
Third, distinguished poster presentation, graduate—Sushil Paudyal, "Associations Between Weather Conditions and Morbidity and Mortality in Beef Calves During the First 60 Days after Feedlot Arrival." Faculty advisers are Dr. John Richeson, Dr. Samuel Ives, Dr. Tanya Covey and Dr. Pablo Pinedo.
