CANYON, Texas—Officials at West Texas A&M University are pleased to announce the completion of the Ray Bain Media Room in the College of Business. Located in Room 218 in the Classroom Center, the Ray Bain Media Room features upgrades to the physical room and its technology along with the addition of high-definition video production equipment.
The room’s video production equipment will provide the dual purpose of creating high-quality content videos for students taking courses in the online environment combined with enriching the educational experience of marketing and computer information systems students that employ the equipment as part of applied campus course projects.
"I want to thank First United Bank and the Ray Bain Foundation for this investment in our students and the future of our program," Dr. Neil Terry, dean of the College of Business, said. "This gift provides resources that gives students hands-on training with digital equipment and prepares them for business careers that employ emerging media. In addition, we are honored to have an explicit association with the legacy of Ray Bain and the excellence in leadership he exhibited throughout his distinguished career."
Bain was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in business administration from West Texas A&M University in 2013. His 53-year career in banking includes service as the president and CEO of First United Bank from 1987-2013. Bain was recognized with the Panhandle/South Plains Bankers Association Distinguished Banker Award in 2012 and by his Texas Bankers Association peers with the 50 Year Banker Award in 2013. He was a well-known pillar in banking and a strong and devoted community leader.
The Ray Bain Foundation and First United Bank join the following individuals, foundations and corporations in naming classroom spaces in the College of Business or the Classroom Center.
