Welcome Message
Welcome to the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences at West Texas A&M University, where everything we do centers on our deep-held belief that knowledge is key to shaping a better future for the people who comprise our society. In short, we do what we do because people matter! We envision a safe and just world where hope is inspired, knowledge is valued, and communities welcome all perspectives and ideas with respect and kindness. If this resonates with you, we extend an open invitation for you to join us in pursuit of this noble cause.
How do we advance our cause? Through a combination of academically rigorous traditional and online course offerings coupled with meaningful engagement in internships, practicums, clinical experiences, research, and service, we avail opportunities for our community of learners seeking advanced credentials to positively impact society. We offer high-quality, competitively priced degree and certification pathways for traditional and non-traditional students leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees, in addition to an array of professional certificates in Education and the Social Sciences.
The mission of our College is to advance society by developing professionals to lead, serve, and educate. Guided by the democratic purposes of American education, the mission of the Department of Education is to prepare professional educators who are confident, skilled, and reflective critical thinkers, effective communicators, advocates of diverse learners, users of technology, life-long learners, and stewards of the profession. The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice serves students who want to examine important questions and significant issues facing contemporary society, and the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work is a student-centered department committed to helping students explore, discover, and pursue interests, talents, and abilities in the real world.
