Spend a Day Learning About WT Dance!
WT Dance Day is Friday, November 13, 2026, and it's free. In one organized day, you’ll take a class with our faculty, perform a solo for program admission and scholarship consideration, meet admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and residential living, tour campus, and end the night at Falling Into Dance, our student choreography concert. You'll also meet current majors and learn what it's like to study dance at WT, where two BFA paths lead to professional careers: Dance Performance and Dance Education. You come as a dancer. You leave knowing exactly what the WT Dance Program is all about.
How to Register
Complete the short application to hold your spot and upload a headshot and a resume. Missing something? Submit anyway and tell us in the questions box. We'll follow up. Watch your inbox. We'll confirm your spot and send check-in details, parking, and what to bring. Parents and guardians are welcome all day; however, the solo audition is for dancers only.
Apply to WT, too. Dance Day registration and university admission are two separate steps. You don't have to apply to the university before the Dance Day Event, but we recommend it. With your application already in, scholarships and housing can move the moment you decide WT is the place. Not sure yet? Come anyway. Our admissions team will be in the room on November 13 to walk you through it.
Reasons to choose WT Dance Program
- Two concentrations to choose from. A BFA in Dance Performance and a BFA in Dance Education.
- Small by design. Every dancer is known by name. You perform and choreograph from your first semester, not your junior year.
- The world comes to Canyon. Our guest artist residency series brings choreographers from around the world to work directly with our majors.
- Professional facilities. Train and perform in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex, with industry-level stages, lighting, and production and studios in Mary Moody Northern Hall.
- A real pathway. Our alumni perform, choreograph, teach, and lead on stages across the country and around the world.

Dance Day On-Campus Audition
November 13, 2026
Dance Program Auditions are held at our in-person DANCE DAY event on November 13, 2026. Dance Day is specifically tailored to students auditioning for the Dance Program and serves as a basis for dance scholarship consideration.
Prospective dance majors will take an audition class, tour the facilities, meet dance faculty and current students, participate in a Q&A, and see the Falling Into Dance Concert.

For students unable to audition through the Dance Day event, WT Dance will accept online auditions.
Prepare an audition reel using YouTube or Vimeo and follow the video submission requirements below.

Distance Audition Requirements
Prepare an audition reel using YouTube or Vimeo that includes the following:
01. Ballet Barre
With one hand on the barre and filmed from the side, demonstrate:
- Grand and demi plié
- Battement tendu
- Battement dégagé
- Grand battement exercises
- An Adagio including développé, passé and relevé
02. Ballet Centre Floor
Demonstrate centre floor combinations that include:
- Stationary pirouettes en dehors
- Stationary pirouettes en dedans
- Petit allegro
- Grand allegro
03. Additional Dance Genre
Include one combination from another dance genre (or two), such as:
Modern • Jazz • Tap • Contemporary • Hip Hop
04. Solo
Include a solo choreographed by you or another choreographer and performed in the studio or live performance.
The solo should not exceed 3 minutes. You may submit solos in more than one genre.
